From Ruin to Radiance: Mapping a Revival in Blaj
In 2011, a burnt and long-abandoned building in Blaj, Romania, became the canvas for a powerful message. As part of Transylvania Fest, the municipality sought to spark public interest and initiate the building’s restoration by transforming it into the focal point of a cultural event.
Atelier MASS led the temporary architectural intervention and invited us to contribute through projection mapping. The result was a luminous overlay that not only animated the ruin but helped shift public perception from decay to possibility.
Happy ending: This is the building now, rebuilt and reintroduced into the life of the city.
